Connection between Galaxies and H i in Circumgalactic and Intergalactic Media: Variation according to Galaxy Stellar Mass and Star Formation Activity

چکیده
This paper systematically investigates comoving Mpc scale intergalactic medium (IGM) environment around galaxies traced by the Ly$\alpha$ forest. Using our cosmological hydrodynamic simulations, we investigate IGM-galaxy connection at $z=2$ two methods: (I) cross-correlation analysis between and fluctuation of forest transmission ($\delta_\text{F}$); (II) comparing overdensity neutral hydrogen (HI) galaxies. Our simulations reproduce observed functions (CCF) Lyman-break We further variation CCF using subsamples divided dark matter halo mass ($M_\text{DH}$), galaxy stellar ($M_\star$), star-formation rate (SFR), find that signal becomes stronger with increasing $M_\text{DH}$, $M_\star$, SFR. The CCFs gas-density are also found to have similar trends. Therefore, $\delta_\text{F}$-CCF depending on SFR is due varying gas density correlation IGM HI distribution strongly depends $M_\text{DH}$ as expected from linear theory. results support $\Lambda$CDM paradigm, finding a spatial HI, more massive being clustered in higher-density regions.

Relation Between Stellar Mass and Star Formation Activity in Galaxies
For a mass-selected sample of 66544 galaxies with photometric redshifts (zphot) from the Cosmic Evolution Survey (COSMOS), we examine the evolution of star formation activity as a function of stellar mass in galaxies. We estimate the cosmic star formation rates (SFR) over the range 0.2 < zphot < 1.2, using the rest-frame 2800 Å flux (corrected for extinction). We find the mean SFR to be a stron...
متن کاملStellar Populations in the Central Galaxies of Fossil Groups
It is inferred from the symmetrical and luminous X-ray emission of fossil groups that they are mature, relaxed galaxy systems. Cosmological simulations and observations focusing on their dark halo and inter-galactic medium properties confirm their early formation. Recent photometric observations suggest that, unlike the majority of non-fossil brightest group galaxies (BGGs), the central early-t...
متن کاملThe Observed Relation between Stellar Mass, Dust Extinction and Star Formation Rate in Local Galaxies
In this study we investigate the relation between stellar mass, dust extinction and star formation rate (SFR) using ∼ 150, 000 star-forming galaxies from the SDSS DR7. We show that the relation between dust extinction and SFR changes with stellar mass. For galaxies at the same stellar mass dust extinction is anti-correlated with the SFR at stellar masses < 10M⊙. There is a sharp transition in t...
متن کاملGalaxy Formation in Preheated Intergalactic Media
We outline a scenario of galaxy formation in which the gas in galaxy-forming regions was preheated to high entropy by vigorous energy feedback associated with the formation of stars in old ellipticals and bulges and with AGN activity. Such preheating likely occurred at redshifts z ∼ 2 – 3, and can produce the entropy excess observed today in low-mass clusters of galaxies without destroying the ...
متن کاملsimulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
